    Description:


    The University of Illinois Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for a Cardiac Sonographer Specialist position for the ECHO-SOL study being conducted ancillary to the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL).

    HCHS/SOL is a multi-center epidemiologic study in Hispanic/Latino populations to assess the role of acculturation in the prevalence and development of disease, and to identify factors playing a protective or harmful role in the health of Hispanics/Latinos.

    The target population of 16,000 persons of Hispanic/Latino origin were recruited through four Field Centers in Miami, San Diego, Chicago and the Bronx area of New York.


    Qualifications:


    As part of this dynamic team, the Cardiac Sonographer Specialist staff are responsible for conducting cardiac and vascular sonography for the ECHO SOL study, per the study protocol.

    Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).


    Advanced knowledge of conventional cardiac sonography equipment; knowledge of health care facilities' computer systems; knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent patient care; knowledge of anatomy and physiology; knowledge of human psychology; knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and managing files and records; knowledge of all patient safety procedures; demonstrate basic competencies in processing images and troubleshooting; performs minor trouble shooting operations; skill in proper documentation of results including preparing clear and concise reports, charts, and other written material; excellent communication skills.

    Bilingual Spanish/ English required.

    Shift Hours: 7 am to 3:30pm, some weekday and weekend hours


    Hours Per Week:
    8-16.
