    SUMMARY:
    Responsible for the direction and administration of accounting, planning, accounting compliance, reporting, and related systems sustaining the transportation operating group.

    GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Ensure that all accounting issues, contracting agreements and financial reporting are completed timely, managed and administered within Company policy, procedure and guidelines and in compliance with all regulatory requirements. Direct and conduct special analytical projects to achieve profit enhancement, cost reduction opportunities, and business improvements. Partner in the creation of strategic plans and recommendations for growth opportunities within the land transportation business to include brokerage, intermodal, asset based trucking, and manage transportation businesses. Build and maintain customer and service provider relations. Assign responsibilities to individuals and directs their activities. Assist in the establishment and tracking of transportation unit goals and objectives, and in the development of strategic plans. Assist transportation management with decisions, through provision of analytical support.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:
    Bachelor's degree in finance, business or a related field; or a combination of post high school and equal experience may be substituted for education. CPA and/or MBA preferred.

    EXPERIENCE - 6 years experience with management reporting and administration or full service accounting department; audit experience; demonstrated increases in level of Managerial responsibility.

    TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY:
    Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio and Word.

    Experience with financial systems such as Oracle and/or transportation management systems such as TMW or Blue Yonder.

    COMPETENCIES:
    Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. Ability to demonstrate strong communication, negotiation and problem solving skills with proven leadership ability. Ability to train others. Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of CPA regulations. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to apply skill sets and demonstrate proven experience developing, improving and streamlining processes to meet established goals and objectives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope.

    OTHER:
    CPA awareness and exposure desired.

    JOB SCOPE:
    Position impacts multiple business units/segments.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:
    Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Extended use of a computer keyboard, viewing of a computer monitor and the ability to sit for long periods of time.

    FLSA Status:

    The position is Exempt. May require the ability to work overtime to meet required deadlines. All work rules, including those that pertain to safety and health are expected to be respected and complied with.
