Job Summary:
Provides direct leadership, instruction and motivation for students in swimming classes. To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Job Responsibilities:


Instructs swimming lessons as assigned in accordance with guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly.

Develops positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance.

Encourages member and parent involvement.

Conveys information on aquatics programs and schedules and as appropriate refers members and participants to other programs.

Maintains records as required (i.e. attendance, progress reports, etc.). Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.

Follows all policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures.

Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.

Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment.

Trains and supervises class aides as assigned.

Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.

Ability to lift equipment, and to lift a small to average size child.

Certifications Required
CPR and Swim Instructor or Water Safety Instructor
