    Job Description

    This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2024. Resume review begins in January 2024.

    The Global Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability function is responsible for ensuring environmental compliance, providing safe and productive workplaces, and working towards Biogen's sustainability goals. At the core, Global EHS supports the company's business objectives by ensuring it is focused towards best practices and engaging employees in environmental, health, safety, and sustainability.

    As the Global Sustainability Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to projects that support Biogen's sustainability goals and provide a framework for our continued compliance and strategy. This role includes project around sustainability data collection, carbon accounting and reporting, life cycle assessment, and supplier engagement. This role reports to the Head of Sustainability.

    Position Description

    • Work cross-functionally with company stakeholders and subject-matter experts to collect data and support Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) projects;
    • Prepare Biogen for new sustainability reporting requirements and disclosures (U.S. SEC, European CSRD) through program review and process mapping. Support identification and closure of gaps in preparation for these requirements;
    • Support compilation and submittal of annual ESG disclosures, including CDP
    • Engage with suppliers to support continued progress towards our responsible procurement and supply chain goals.
    • Engage with governance teams to support sustainability related projects & initiatives

    Specific projects will include:

    • Supplier sustainability engagement activities, including renewable energy and science-based target support for long-term supply chain targets.
    • Support annual sustainability disclosure reporting, working with stakeholders across the company, Support data entry, calculation and external verification of data as needed.
    • Conduct a gap analysis for Biogen's readiness for regulatory reporting requirements, update and develop necessary procedures, and develop a process map of data to prepare for internal and external auditing

    Qualifications

    • Pursing a related bachelor's or master's degree.
    • Interest and passion for sustainability, environmental science/affairs, and public health.
    • Creative, pioneering, agile and flexible. Possesses a natural curiosity and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong initiative, sense of urgency and ability to manage own projects.

    To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

    • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
    • At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date
    • Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
