    Assistant/Associate Professor of Physician Assistant Practice

    Position Summary:


    The PA program faculty member will be responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of curriculum components for PA students.

    The individual must possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, and must always demonstrate a professional demeanor and appearance.

    The individual will work closely with all faculty members to ensure that students achieve the required program learning outcomes and entry level PA profession competencies.

    The individual must have academic credentials necessary for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and deliver learning activities to facilitate the effective delivery of course content (in lecture, lab, small group, or other type of learning format)
    • Collaborate with other program faculty in the development and updating of course syllabi, required reading assignments, and learning objectives for all courses as assigned.
    • Regularly serve as course and unit coordinator according to the needs of the PA program.
    • Participate in simulation exercises, OSCEs, and clinical skills labs as assigned.
    • Evaluate students in both formative and summative assessments; assist with clinical year student evaluations as necessary.
    • Recruit guest lecturers as needed.
    • Develop and analyze exams and exam items using available metrics and software.
    • Fully participate in the admissions process.
    • Fully participate in the program's ongoing self-study and accreditation process
    • Serve on program, college, and departmental committees as assigned.
    • Advise students; facilitate remediation processes as necessary; assess students' professionalism over the continuum of the program.
    • Present lectures to students and affiliated organizations as required.
    • This position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity, and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University.

    Education/Experience:

    The following credentials are preferred:

    • Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program
    • Minimum of a relevant master's level degree from a regionally accredited institution
    • Current NCCPA certification
    • Eligible for North Carolina Medical Board PA licensure
    • 3-5 years clinical experience is preferred but not mandatory.
    • Experience in a higher education or non-profit sector is also preferred.

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact in an ethnic and culturally diverse community.
    • Knowledge of educational principles and instructional development
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other related applications
    • Knowledge of current clinical medicine and up to date medical practice
    • Knowledge and vision about the future of the PA profession
    • Commitment to maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail.
    • Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy, and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high-level university officials and the public.
    • Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
    • Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
    • Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet deadlines.

    • Broad knowledge of Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.
