The successful candidate will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments to facilitate their academic and social development.

    Requirements:

    • All applicants must meet the local and state requirements for employment as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired in California.
    • Possession of a valid TVI certification or licensure is required.
    • Previous experience working as a TVI in a school setting is preferred.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
    • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs.
    • Demonstrated commitment to meeting the academic and developmental needs of students with visual impairments.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate students' visual functioning and educational needs.
    • Develop and implement specialized instructional strategies to teach academic and functional skills to students with visual impairments.
    • Provide direct instruction in areas such as braille literacy, orientation and mobility, and adaptive technology.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
    • Utilize assistive technology and resources to support students' access to the curriculum and classroom materials.
