    JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
    JOB TITLE: School Psychologist

    School: CCP, CES & CJSHS

    School Year:

    Reports to: Director of Special Services

    Bargaining Unit: CEA

    Status: New Position

    FTE: 1.0

    Wage Range (Salaries are stated as an estimate only. Actual salary is confirmed only upon hire/job offer.)

    $53,466 - $106,628 (DOE)

    Note: Employees are paid the last working day of each month.

    Position Summary:

    The school psychologist provides assessment, consultation, and intervention services for students that are suspected of, or have been identified as, having disabilities that adversely impact their educational performance and require specially designed instruction.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:
    1. Case manage initial evaluations and reevaluations for special education.
    2. Conduct individual psychoeducational evaluations and observe and analyze the data relevant to individual students.
    3. Consult with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff members about educational and psychological characteristics and needs of their students.
    4. Consult with parents, teachers, and other relevant staff members to design appropriate, research-based academic and behavioral interventions for students with disabilities.
    5. Be informed of state and federal rules and regulations as they pertain to the education of students with disabilities.
    6. Consult with staff regarding special education law as it relates to qualification for special education services.
    7. Provide appropriate consultation and assistance in the development and maintenance of the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
    8. Participate in the development of functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities that have significant behavioral difficulties.
    9. Consult with district administrators about special education law as it relates to discipline and placement of special education students.
    10. Participate in manifestation determination meetings when a student with a disability has been suspended for more than 10 days in a school year.
    11. Recommend, along with other IEP team members, placements or programs designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
    12. Ability to obtain, clarify and exchange information.
    13. Communicate effective instructional strategies and interventions based on a syntheses of assessment data.
    14. Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
    15. Act as a liaison with community family, service agencies and other support services.
    16. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of people in a multicultural and diverse socioeconomic setting.
    17. Remain current with advances in research regarding disabilities and appropriate interventions for those disabilities.
    18. Consult with private and public practitioners regarding students' progress and development.
    19. Remain current with educational developments.
    20. Participate in developing in-service programs as requested by building personnel or the director of student support services.
    21. Interpret student support services programs to community, professional groups, and outside agencies.
    22. Use the results of evaluation and self-appraisal to improve job effectiveness.
    23. Obtain and maintain all licenses and certificates necessary to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.
    24. Collaborate with Special Education Team. Participate as a team member.
    25. Comply with district safety rules and regulations.
    26. Operate and maintain equipment as required; insure its safe and proper use; protect the district equipment and supplies against pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse.
    27. Maintain appropriate physical condition and health status necessary to perform duties and responsibilities as assigned.
    28. Maintain grooming and attire appropriate to district standards; represent district in a professional and business-like manner.
    29. Additional duties may include: Small group Social and Emotional support, developing Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP), support district wide MTSS system, respond to student behavior as needed.
    Certification:
    1. Master's degree from an approved school psychology program
    2. Successful completion of all practicum and internship requirements
    3. Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate Certification
    4. Valid Washington State driver's license

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, move about, hear and speak, and be visually observant of classroom behavior and learning activities.

    The employee may occasionally lift, restrain, or move up to 100 pounds - most typically when required to intervene in student safety issues.

    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties. The employee may be exposed to infectious disease as carried by students.

    The employee may be required to travel on school owned or leased vehicles while supervising and assisting students.
