    Description

    The Cato Corporation is seeking an experienced District Manager for the Corpus Christi, TX market.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Sales Generation/Customer Service

    • Responsible for achieving the sales goals for the district collectively and for each individual store.
    • Constantly strives to improve multiple selling techniques in merchandise presentation and staff selling.

    Talent Management

    • Conducts in depth interviews in order to recruit and hire high quality management Associates who meet the qualitative standards of the company.
    • Enforces all personnel practices to comply with local, state and federal requirements, as well as company policies.
    • Develops and maintains a management style conducive to achieving results through positive motivation of staff in all areas of accountability.

    Merchandising

    • Responsible for analysis and suggestions for editing additions and fine tuning individual store stock mix to maximize sales.
    • Continually analyzes each store within its market and develops action plans to maximize results.

    Administrative Management

    • Understands and utilizes data and reports as distributed by corporate office regarding stock level analysis, matrices, profit/loss statements, etc.
    • Adheres to all company policies and procedures as defined in manuals; ensure all store Associates also follow defined company policies and procedures.

    Expense Control

    • Assumes an active role in the development of budgets in the controllable areas.

    Loss Prevention

    • Adheres to and enforces all Loss Prevention policies, procedures and programs.

    Store Maintenance

    • Ensures excellent standards for housekeeping and aesthetics are maintained throughout the entire district and each store.
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Qualifications Required:
    • 3 years management experience in a retail operation (multi-store management experience is beneficial),
    • Strong communication skills,
    • Strong recruiting skills and the ability to coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
    • Merchandise presentation skills and a sincere desire to work in a retail environment are essential.
    • Other duties as assigned.
