- Maintain all pedestrian sidewalks and concrete pavers in a safe clean manner to include snow removal and deicing, and sweeping of sidewalks as well as emergency repairs as necessary.
- Maintain and repair irrigation systems to include diagnosing and troubleshooting systems and operation of computerized control system.
- Operate and maintain all equipment in the Grounds Department to include tractors, mowers, front end loaders, backhoe, truck, sprayer, forklift, utility vehicles and rental equipment.
- Police campus grounds for trash to include emptying trash receptacles, picking up trash and general cleanup.
- Provide maintenance of all shrub beds, ground cover beds, flowerbeds and trees on campus to include fertilizing, weed control, pest control, mulching and pruning.
- Other duties as assigned to include but not limited to: Holiday lighting display installation and removal, supervision of student workers, wildlife control,recycling and building trash hauling.
- Supervision of student and part-time employees.
- Keep accurate records of all chemical applications, equipment maintenance and inventories of supplies.
- Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years experience in landscape maintenance, Garden Center sales or appropriate course work/training required
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in Irrigation systems or formal Irrigation training with the ability to perform troubleshooting and diagnostics required
- Valid State of Ohio Driver License and insurability by College's insurance provider required
- Knowledge of plant materials and insect and disease identification preferred

The Grounds Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all campus grounds including landscape maintenance, equipment maintenance, maintenance of irrigation systems, site furnishings, hardscape maintenance, snow removal, and recycling. The Grounds Supervisor is also responsible to coordinate with the custodial contractor on an ongoing basis. The College grounds cover approximately 65 acres.
The basic purpose of this position is to maintain the campus grounds and landscaping. Evaluate exterior conditions, which include all horticultural material, streets, sidewalks, signs, irrigation, banners, pavers, general appearance, safety conditions and planning or redesigning elements that would enhance the appearance of the campus. Performs general preventative and scheduled maintenance of all equipment relating to the Grounds Department. Performs snow removal and deicing on campus during inclement weather conditions. Working with and supervision of part-time and student employees.
The hourly pay rate for this position is $14.37 per hour with a maximum of 28 hours per week.
