The Director of Human Resources is responsible for developing and executing human resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of compliance with appropriate laws, talent management, change management, training and development, total rewards, and succession planning.
Job Summary: As a part of the Legacy Fruit leadership team, the Director of Human resources holds the key responsibility for safeguarding our workforce, fostering responsible leadership, and supporting an employee-centric culture that embodies our core values of integrity, respect, teamwork, excellence, accountability, and passion.
Leadership Responsibilities:
• Lives our Mission, Vision, and Values, with behaviors that exemplify our MVVs.
• Supports leadership team and human resources team by ensuring compliance with appropriate laws and practices, providing coaching, performance management, and requests for information.
• Serves with leadership accountability and ensures excellent customer service is provided to leaders, employees, applicants, and other community members.
• Provides counsel to leaders on compliance to policies and practices regarding employment issues.
• Completes quarterly performance evaluation and planning process (PEP) for Human Resources department employees in a timely and constructive manner.
• Partners with leadership to understand current and future needs and also supports development performance improvement plans (PIP).
• Participates in intra-departmental and inter-departmental efforts for continuous safety, quality, and productivity improvement.
• Prepares budgets, develops business plans, identify opportunities for improving results.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop human resources plans and strategies to support the overall business objectives.
• Function as a strategic business partner and advisor to the executive/senior management of each business unit or specialty group regarding key organizational and management issues.
• Assists the President and CEO in building and maintaining a company culture with a team of accountable leaders and engaged employees.
• Partner with the company's executive management team to establish a sound plan of management succession that corresponds to the strategy and objectives of the company.
• Develop comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention plans to meet the ongoing human capital needs of our strategic goals.
• Develop and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits plans that are competitive and cost-effective.
• Provide overall leadership and guidance to the human resources function by overseeing compliance, talent acquisition, training on HR policies and guidelines, compensation, and benefits.
• Recruit, professional talent aligned with our company culture.
• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements.
• Keep abreast of any upcoming changes to legal requirements and plan accordingly for impact to the workforce and company's strategic plan.
Organizational Relationships:
• Reports to President of Operations and is a member of the Legacy Fruit Leadership Team.
• Operates with utmost integrity (Integrity First), must have a proven capacity to excel in an entrepreneurial environment, and be comfortable in an organization where rolling up one's sleeves is the norm.
• Partners with Accounting, Warehouse Operations, Orchard Operations and Leadership Team.
• Works with external partners including healthcare brokers, 401(k) brokers, attorneys, and regulatory agencies.
• Provides organizational development activities including onboarding, orientation and other training and education efforts directed by company leadership.
• Cultivates a safe, positive, and productive workplace environment for everyone.
• Demonstrates strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee the human resources department and work with all leaders and employees within the company.
Qualifications:
• A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university; an MBA or MA/MS in human resources or closely related field preferred.
• A minimum of 15 years of HR experience, with at least five years of executive HR experience.
• SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) is preferred.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is a highly preferred skill for this position.
• Proven ability to align and implement human resources and organizational development strategies.
• Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieved desired organizational outcomes and results.
• Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations
• Knowledge of tree fruit industry preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills that enables you to compose human resources reports, employee training manuals or workplace memos.
• A natural ability to lead and successfully oversee human resources personnel to successfully carry out their tasks.
