    The Commodity Manager is a strategic thinker who develops long-term, cost-effective solutions for the acquisition of commodities, while ensuring a high level of quality. The Commodity Manager is responsible for deploying the strategy for the assigned commodities. The role of the Commodity Manager is to manage relationship / negotiation with suppliers, source new suppliers, and ensure supplier performance.

    The successful Commodity Manager will have extensive knowledge of commodity procurement processes, excellent negotiation skills, a strong understanding of cost savings metrics, and be a team player with an ability to build relationships both within Albanese and with our valued suppliers.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Execute commodity strategy with ownership to support business strategy and operations with optimum quality, deliver (customer service), and cost across business.
    • Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers.
    • Build on long term supplier relationships to ensure that supplier partnerships remain fair and ensure that Albanese is maximizing its partnerships.
    • Sources ingredients/suppliers for new projects/custom items.
    • Maintain and manage existing supply agreements with key suppliers, lead in negotiating price, quality, and delivery expectations on both short-term and longer-term agreements.
    • Work with Supply Chain to drive and execute supplier scorecards and review with key suppliers on a quarterly basis.
    • Support escalated supplier issues in terms of delivery and quality by working with supply chain for resolution.
    • Support achieving the overall category targets and objective to attain overall budget performance as well as expected internal/external performance for best quality, delivery, and cost.
    • Drive and innovate supplier improvements and performance by identifying and implementing solutions to business problems, and cross-functional within assigned categories.
    • Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of procurement (e.g.: supplier improvements, recommend new sources of supply).
    • Support development of standardization, guidelines, and policy compliance requirements
    • Negotiate contracts, policies, and deadlines with suppliers and vendors
    • Monitor prices by product and vendor to predict and account for financial fluctuations and communicate fluctuations to stake holders.
    • Assist in managing staff and vendors for timely arrival of products and goods.
    • Participate in industry conferences
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Reports to Ownership.
    • Communicates regularly and has a strong relationship with team members in multiple departments.
    • Communicates and meets periodically with other departmental leaders.
    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
    • Excellent interpersonal skills - team player
    • Self-motivated and self-starter
    • Good verbal and written communication skills
    • Must be detailed oriented
    • Knowledge of production and processing
    • Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
    EDUCATION
    • 5+ years in commodity procurement required
    • High School Diploma is required
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
