- Overseeing the preparation of detailed engineering calculations & analysis
- Completing design tasks within budget and on schedule
- Preparing scopes of work, cost estimates, and other project documentation
- Supporting the work of others and mentoring junior-level engineers & technical design/drafting staff
- Working directly, when assigned, with clients to determine needs and provide solutions
- Ensuring project compliance with all Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards
- Traveling (up to 25%) for client meetings, project site visits, etc.
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
- 7 years of related industry experience in the water/wastewater field
- Flexible to work with a variety of project teams locally and across remote offices
- Experience in the development of project drawings, technical specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates
- Project experience including design and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities; focused on expansion, rehabilitation, and retrofit
- Leadership experience; including managing project delivery expectations, prioritization of tasks, and mentoring junior-level staff
- Experience or desire for a client-facing role with skills to include preparation and development of proposals, managing client expectations, and overall relationship.
- PE License in New York and/or in other nearby states (or ability to obtain NY PE within 12 months of hire)
- 10 years of progressively responsible experience
- Active participation in regional (local/state) and/or national professional associations

Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Western NY. This position may report to our Buffalo, NY or Rochester, NY office location.
In this role, you will work alongside senior-level engineers and project managers to grow your expertise and technical knowledge of water and wastewater treatment design & construction engineering. As a vital team member, you'll be responsible for upholding our esteemed reputation for excellence in client management and development.
Role accountabilities:
In this role, you will support projects and clients in the planning, design, and construction phases of water/wastewater treatment plants, distribution/collection systems, and pump/lift stations. You will also be responsible for developing construction documents (e.g., technical drawings and specifications) and providing engineering services during construction. Arcadis offers benefits for full-time positions. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $70,800 - $122,130.
