    Duties


    • You will serve as senior Project Manager for significant multi-discipline projects, with complete responsibility for all technical aspects of the projects.
    • You will manage configuration of regional cranes to ensure compliance with NAVCRANECENINST , NAVFAC P-307, and the NAVSEA Crane Quality Manual.
    • You will review design/manufacturing submittals developed by crane design and manufacturing firms for conformance to criteria and good engineering practice.
    • You will act as an official representative of NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic in conferences with crane manufacturers, government inspectors, and Navy crane user activities.
    • You will act as a Command representative on technological and standards-making panels.
    • You will be assigned as a member of the crane program internal review team, which travels to MIDLANT activities to determine if their crane programs are in compliance with applicable requirements for engineering organizations Requirements Conditions of Employment

    Qualifications This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates
    Selective Placement Factor (SPF): This position has an SPF which is current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any state, District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico

    In addition to the basic requirements and selective placement factor for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1)

    Applying knowledge of a wide range of engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, or structural), operating conditions, and design approaches to provide expert advice on complex projects; 2) Managing projects in a timely manner to accomplish objectives within resource constraints; 3) Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and manufactures manuals and schematic instructions; 4) Independently planning, organizing, and scheduling work to meet deadlines; 5) Facilitating interaction and communication between the client and other engineering team members; and 6) Making oral and written technical reports and presentations to management in a clear, concise, and effective manner Note:

    Qualifications Standards Manual:
    Applicants must possess: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
    To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
    Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

    Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
    Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g.
