    **Description**

    Salary: $21.00 per hour

    The Cook will be responsible for preparing all meals according to the menu and serving the clients attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and warmth.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Prepares all meals according to the menu.

    Supervises and instructs kitchen personnel in the safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment.

    Maintains a neat and orderly kitchen with the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.

    Checks food shipments into the kitchen, signing invoices only after each order has been verified.

    Determines the quantities of each food to be prepared daily according to a planned menu using tested and uniform recipes.

    Serves the proper serving sizes to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served per production sheets.

    Records all food requisitions from the storeroom, and records all meals served as required by state standards.

    Oversees the locking of the storeroom, freezer, and the refrigerator, and maintaining a correct monthly inventory.

    Calls in orders of all necessary supplies to approved vendors.

    Reports immediately to the Supervisor of Food Services Program and building principal any accident or clients behavioral problem occurring in the kitchen or the premises.

    Evaluates kitchen personnel in the building and confers with the Supervisor of Food Services Program regarding any personal problems.

    Reports to the Supervisor of Food Services Program any faulty or inferior quality food which is received.

    Supervises with the daily cleaning log of all kitchen equipment, and the washing and sterilizing of all dishes, silverware, and utensils.

    Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and machines [OSHA].

    Complies with all Federal, state and local laws and regulations for the storage, use, and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste and hazardous material [OSHA].

    Other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    Knowledge of good dietary practices.

    Proficiency in the preparation of large quantities of food.

    Good Communication Skills with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner.

    Good Customer Service Skills

    Neat appearance.

    Competence in maintaining a kitchen and supervising others.

    Successfully passing the Background Check.

    Education/Experience

    High School Diploma and/or GED or training and experience that are considered equivalent.

    Certificates/Licenses

    Food Handler Certification

    TB Test

    Other Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

    Experience in Dietary Meal Preparation preferred.
