    Partnering with our customers, we help save lives; reduce risks to society; QinetiQ US is looking for an Industrial/Product Design Engineering Intern to join our team this summer In this collaborative role, you will get a chance to learn important skills and gain professional experience by supporting our Engineering Department, working within a fast-growth company and flat organization with the opportunity to interact with senior leaders and to make an impact as part of a high-trust performance culture.


    Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team (Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Optical, and Systems Engineering) to design military products operating in rugged environments.

    Designs must take into consideration Human Factors of the end user including human physiology, clothing, and other support equipment the end user utilizes.

    Contribute to the product Human/Machine interface design in one or both of the following area:

    Physical:
    Product Aesthetics (Shape/Texture/Color), Physical Input Devices (example: button location, tactile feedback, color, and shape), handles/grips, and other physical attributes

    Virtual:

    Graphical User Interface Design, Icons (size, shape, color, location), placement of primary and lower priority information, persistence of information, etc.

    Enrolled in an Industrial and/or Product Design degree program at an accredited college/university.
    Ability to clearly communicate design concepts and intent behind design choices.
    Experience with prototype fabrication (rapid prototyping, molding, sculpting, wood working, metal fabrication) and comfortable working hands on with product.
    Must be able to work independently on a project basis and meet frequent deadlines.
    Availability to work flexible hours when required.
    Must have the ability to work a hybrid schedule (remote and in office).

    Experience with digital graphical design and/or 3D CAD tools and the following computer applications: Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat.
