Job Summary:
The Emergency Department ED Tech Level I is a multi-skilled caregiver who functions under the direction of the professional Registered Nurse. Provides safe age-appropriate care to the patient by performing vital signs 12-lead EKG bedside blood sugar testing superficial wound care oral suctioning splint application instruction of safe ambulation with crutches must understand and practice aseptic technique when required urethral catheterization sterile tray preparation dressing applications phlebotomy operate and observe cardiac monitors to ensure recognition of arrhythmias as well as operate pulse oximetry monitors transports patients unit supplies equipment and patient medications assures patient care area is appropriately stocked with supplies monitor’s patients in restraint/seclusion documents observations performs other duties deemed necessary to ensure delivery of patient care.Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Provides safe age-appropriate care to the patient Obtain and document vital signs inform nurse if vital signs are abnormal Perform 12-lead EKG hand to ED physician perform bedside blood sugar testing inform nurse if result is abnormal measure apply extremity splints as directed by nurse or physician instruct regarding safe crutch ambulation techniques return demonstration bypatient oral suctioning superficial wound care performs procedures using aseptic technique Urethral catheterization Sterile tray preparation dressing application Phlebotomy Telesitter Facility Liaison tracks delivers maintains retrieves telesitter carts troubleshoots cart connectivity issues places IT ticket if necessary Performs safe room guideline checks initiation every hand-off thereafter environmental rounds ensures safe room guidelines being maintained responds remote telesitter escalation face-to-face intervention notifies Nurse chargeNurse face redirection requiredTransport via stretcher wheelchair ensuring safety Unit supplies Equipment Patient medications Monitors patients restraint/seclusion Frequency monitoring performed policy Document monitoring policy Notify nurse abnormal findings observation observes cardiac monitors recognize arrhythmias Site specific Kennestone ED Recognize rhythms communicate registered professional appropriate Provides accurate information each monitor use Responsible cleaning maintaining monitors pumps monitor room Assures appropriately stocked performs other assigned Complies WellStar Health System policies standards work code conduct.Job description
