    Position Summary

    Reporting to the CFO of National Material L.P. (NMLP) with a strong dotted line to National Material Company (NMC) and National Material Processing (NMP) VP/GMs, the position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a senior leadership team that operates a premier business in a culture that values performance, collaboration, and nimble, rapid decision making. The Finance Manager is responsible for all financial activities, including financial planning and analysis, internal financial reporting, transactional accounting, general ledger review and cost accounting. The position oversees one financial analyst and a team of seven transactional accounting associates that support revenue and cost accounting activities. The position also works closely with the NMLP and NMC corporate accounting and finance teams on matters related to general ledger accounting, forecasting, annual planning, internal controls, customer credit analysis and miscellaneous accounting activities as needed. The position is responsible for maintaining strong internal controls over company's assets and financial reporting as well as providing the NMC/NMP leadership team with value added analysis and insight on disaggregated cost and profitability at the business segment and customer level. This position serves as the trusted financial advisor to two business unit VP/GMs on critical strategic and operational decisions including capital investment and M&A activities. Finally, this position must be able to develop staff and continuously improve the talent and capabilities of the overall finance function.

    Specific responsibilities include:

    Financial Planning and Analysis

    • Monitor profitability by customer and business segment; proactively identify opportunities for profit margin improvement and process efficiencies.
    • Provide financial oversight and reporting to enable effective inventory management
    • Provide financial support and leadership to drive strategic initiatives developed by the business units
    • Lead annual plan development and presentation to NMLP corporate.
    • Produce monthly projections and quarterly forecasts and business review presentations with input from VP/GM's including analysis of inventory outlooks, customer profitability and actions, and income statement performance bridges/comments
    • Lead annual capital budget development and provide financial analysis and insight on major strategic projects.
    • Provide VPs with timely and accurate information for key decision making and be the primary source of analytical support for key operating and strategic decisions.
    • Lead continuous improvement efforts across all processes including financial systems, data management and reporting.
    • Develop and calculate key employee compensation programs for quarterly and annual programs
    • Maintain customer pricing programs and pricing in the ERP system, including managing customer rebate programs
    Financial Accounting and Controls
    • Deliver timely and accurate monthly financial results to the VP/GM of NMP and NMC
    • Lead the close process for the transactional accounting team, ensure all invoices have been issued and complete analysis on customer pricing programs, customer claim and inventory reserves, and rebate programs. In addition, provide/review any other manual accrual items to the general accounting team for accurate expense and margin transactions.
    • Maintain and ensure accuracy of financial and cost accounting records.
    • Maintain and improve internal controls over the company's assets (inventory/PP&E) and financial reporting, including performing annual physical inventory counts/reconciliations
    • Support external audits to ensure requested data from the business unit is supported and delivered to within the required timeframes
    Leadership and Staff Development
    • Lead the business unit's finance team including the development of team members, planning & coordinating work as well as ensuring understanding of policies and procedures
    • Take responsibility for staff member development while seeking to continuously upgrade the performance level of department talent
    • Set high expectations that are both personally and organizationally driven, setting standards and challenging others to attain more
    • Able to work effectively across the organization driving initiatives and leading cross functional teams
    • Formulate a complete and accurate understanding of the business' goals and objectives while playing an important role in creating the strategy for moving the organization forward
    Ideal Background

    The successful candidate will have demonstrated FP&A and Accounting experience in a multi-location, manufacturing organization. Metals industry experience is desired but not required. The candidate must be process orientation and possess strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills. The candidate must be able to lead others while also be willing to regularly roll up their sleeves to perform complex financial analysis. This individual will be a confidant of the VP/GMs and must have the confidence and gravitas to engage with peers in the organization to drive profitable growth while maintaining strong controls over all aspects of the finances. Should be fluent with interrelationship of the balance sheet, P&L and cash flow statements and be able to perform ROWC and ROIC analysis.

    Education/Certification
    • An undergraduate degree in accounting or finance and a CPA/MBA designation is preferred
    • 5-10 years of progressive working experience in accounting and FP&A within a manufacturing environment with proven experience in managing staff members.
