    Description


    This position will also provide the leadership to effectively lead all line improvement efforts in a manner to achieve maximum production and operating efficiencies within safety, quality, service and cost standards.

    The Seattle Manufacturing Facility has three primary production areas (Line 1, Line 2, Stucco Preparation Area), including a 24 hour per day shipping operation.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES
    Reporting, Decision Making and Controls
    Reports directly to the Production Manager and has supervisory responsibilities for direct reports, both salary and hourly employees.
    Has extensive latitude for non-reviewed actions and the exercise of independent judgment and discretion within established policies and procedures.
    Ensures all processes meet applicable financial Internal Control guidelines for inventory controls, including; contracts, purchasing, receiving etc.
    Ensures that team is operating within all legal, compliance and applicable contractual policies and procedures
    Responsible for the overall operating efficiency of assigned production line which includes uptime machine availability and product yield. Specifically focused on reducing line downtime due to electrical, mechanical and process failures.

    Supports and enforces improving Health & Safety standards on the line, including: scheduling risk assessments and related actions, actively promoting behavioral safety processes, Health and Safety audits, safety standard assessment, incident investigation and follow up.

    Supports Quality and Production departments, for product quality control on the line, including: product quality checks in place; implementation of quality procedures; product identification and classification; investigation into customer complaints and subsequent actions · Assists with environmental controls, audits and checks compliance and enforcement, and incident investigation and follow up.

    Leading and Development of Team
    Foster a high-performance team environment through engagement, buy-in and contribution by: · Models company Vision, Mission and Values and ensure employee's model the same · Champions Organizational Health with employees, including; Implementation of company standard methods (5 Dysfunctions model, conflict resolution tools, etc.) to all employees
    Communicating and managing team performance against identified targets and objectives
    Recruitment of new team members using robust selection processes
    Identification and development of key skills and behaviors within the team against defined job/skills matrices
    Ensures the overall training & development of employees, including; Regular and ongoing assessment of employee skills and performance to ensure current and developmental needs are addressed
    Implement and manage break down analysis tools (Enhanced Work Order, Quick Kaizen, etc.).
    Support and contributes to human error analysis process (HERCA), attacking losses within the plant and strive to eliminate human error
    Supports improvement and integration of standard training procedures and materials (SOP, Job Instruction), including EHS, to drive consistent performance
    Plan and, in partnership with Autonomous Maintenance (AM) & Preventative Maintenance (PM) pillars, develop new AM / PM activity on the line
    Use and promote use of the correct WCM Tools · Assist and support Area Improvement Board (AIB) process to improve communication and performance efficiencies
    Required Qualifications


    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
    Bachelor's Degree in engineering, science, industrial management or similar discipline, or five (5) years of equivalent training and experience that provides a comprehensive working knowledge of the laws, regulations, practices and procedures of a lean/world class manufacturing operation may be substituted for a degree
    Six to eight (6-8) years of applied professional experience working in production in an industrial / manufacturing environment
    Three to four (3-4) years of direct or indirect supervisory experience
    Familiarity with Lean / World Class principles and practices
    Ability to provide leadership and innovation at all levels of the organization utilizing differing styles of management; from directive, to coaching and support, and delegation as needed

    PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Ten (10) years of applied professional production experience with specifically 4 years' experience in direct supervision, employee relations and scheduling
    World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Instructor or similar qualification
    Previous experience in gypsum industry
    Proven ability to be an outstanding coach and leader, with succession planning and employee development skills
    Active interest and success in people development, training systems and error proofing
    Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency and familiarity with SAP software
