As an Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Manager you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, design, implementation, and management of the construction and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure, which includes the physical components of a telecommunications network such as fiber optic cables, utility poles, conduits, and other related infrastructure.
The OSP Construction Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the timely and efficient deployment of telecommunications networks, while adhering to industry standards, safety regulations, and project budget constraints.
ResponsibilitiesProject Planning and Coordination:
Collaborate with network engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to develop project plans and schedules for the construction and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure.
Coordinate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure that projects are executed according to plan, and address any potential roadblocks.
Design Review:
Review and analyze network design specifications to ensure they meet technical requirements and industry standards.
Provide input on design modifications and improvements to enhance network performance and reliability.
Contractor Management:
Monitor subcontractor performance, adherence to safety protocols, and quality of work.
Permitting and Regulatory Compliance:
Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with regulations governing OSP construction activities.
Quality Assurance and Safety:
Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure that construction activities meet industry standards and specifications.
Enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
Make sure all restoration has been completed to pre-construction conditions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of project progress, expenses, and any deviations from the original plan.
Make sure contractors and internal crews submit daily reports for management and stakeholders, providing updates on project status and milestones.
Problem Solving:
Identify and resolve issues that arise during construction, such as technical challenges, delays, or unexpected obstacles.
Network Integration:
Collaborate with network operations teams to ensure a seamless transition from construction to network activation and operation.
