Job summary
This position is responsible for the upkeep of exterior grounds year round for scientific research sites office buildings and public visitor program.Responsibilities
- Snow Removal Road and walkway maintenance snow removal both manual shoveling
- Landscape maintenance planting mowing irrigation repair raking painting exterior interior offices handrails curbs often on ladders occasionally on scaffolding plumbing basic plumbing clear clogged sinks toilets replace toilet flappers carpentry occasional door window maintenance building maintenance respond staff request minor repairs change air filters event setup teardown including weekends miscellaneous job related duties assigned team supervision basic computer skills email correspondence recording time Requirements Qualifications Snow Team call winter months ability willingness do wide variety tasks learn new skills reliability excessive tardiness absenteeism not tolerated understand written verbal communications work independently team following directions enforce safety procedures operate mowers tractors snowplow leaf blowers chainsaws weed eaters power equipment training provided lift manipulate heavy objects 50lbs more advanced experience knowledge one categories will plus Landscaping Irrigation Tree Felling Carpentry Construction Electrical Plumbing HVAC please address cover letter Education Experience high school diploma equivalent required previous experience facilities grounds maintenance preferred WORKING CONDITIONS frequent exposure unusual elements extreme temperatures dirt dust fumes smoke unpleasant odors loud noises Mandatory when snow forecast this position will call work extra time including weekends holidays Weekend hours required support event setup teardown Considerable physical activity requires heavy physical work bending climbing ladders lifting pushing pulling objects more than 50lbs Physical work primary part job Office moves working partner lift heavy items involve moving desks cabinets occur several times per year Work environment involves some exposure hazard physical risks require following basic safety precautions Mandatory Work may require using company vehicle service remote locations year round Candidate must have obtain valid AZ Drivers license have excellent driving record Motor Vehicle department background check performed annually Serious violations immediate dismissal No Smoking campus historic nature site all Lowell Observatory grounds facilities smoke free all times Status Regular Fulltime 40 hours week Schedule Standard workday 7AM-330PM vary depending event schedule Observatory needs Expect more hours periods heavy snow Morning availability required periods heavy snow weekend work required Weekend work may required event support Compensation $23 hour Depends Experience also pay bonus $4hr during heavy snow removal Benefit Eligible Yes FLSA Classification Hourly NonExempt Location Flagstaff Lowell Observatorys Mars Hill Campus To Apply Please send either Lowell Standard Application available in person front desk visitors center or resume drop them
