    Summary :
    This position is a liaison between Akutan Coop vessels and the Akutan plant.

    The primary function is to make communication of fishing conditions and rotational schedules more effective between the trawl fleet and plant operations.


    Key Responsibilities:
    Supports good relationships with the fleet through advice, morale, problem solving and communication.
    Communicates with fleet regularly to ensure Trident is providing appropriate service and support.
    Communication and coordination to ensure maximum efficiency on the grounds and at the production level.
    The Fleet Coordinator will be required to communicate the following subjects to Plant Management Weather on the grounds
    • What effect it has on fishing conditions and offload timing.

    Catch Rate
    • To ensure the plant does not run out of fish while keeping fish age to a minimum.

    Monitoring Rotation Schedule
    • To ensure that there is not a shortage or excess of fleet capacity in season.

    Bycatch
    • Whether there is a concern of bycatch or fishing is clean, and to what effect that has on the location of the fleet.

    Feedback to the plant
    • Staying active in communications between the fleet and plant Management, this position will be required to check in and stay current with day to day shoreside operations.

    Minimum qualifications:
    A minimum of five years experience in the fishing industry, preferably with commercial fishing experience. Must be active on the fishing grounds.


    Education:
    High School Diploma or equivalent

    Preferred qualifications:
    Understanding of fishing vessels and basic mechanics, and Alaska maritime industry. Experience managing fleet operations is preferred.
