    Description

    Burns & McDonnell's world headquarters in Kansas City, MO, is looking for a Staff Civil Designer to work within our Aviation & Federal Global Practice.

    The Staff Civil Designer will work on an integrated design team within our Aviation & Federal Global Practice.

    Staff Civil Designer will perform the expected tasks with a moderate level of guidance from the design team and staff.

    Develop master plans for state-of-the-art facilities for commercial aviation and federal government clients.

    These facilities include aircraft maintenance hangars, engine maintenance facilities, munitions storage, personnel training facilities, flight simulator facilities, and administration buildings.

    Design site infrastructure for these facilities, including road geometry, parking lot layout, utility layout, grading and drainage design, and stormwater management.

    Design airfield infrastructure for regional and international airport clients, including runways, taxiways, parking aprons, alert shelters, and engine runup areas.

    Design fuel storage and piping facilities at airports and military facilities.
    Design ramp support facilities at airports including aircraft parking, maneuvering, jet bridge analysis, and ground support equipment servicing/parking.

    Drafting and Design Technology degree and 9 years' CAD experience, or
    Associate degree in Drafting and Design Technology and 8 years CAD experience, or
    Bachelor's degree in Drafting and Design Technology or related field and 7 years CAD experience


    Software Competencies:
    Autodesk Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office products.
    Knowledge of Autodesk Infraworks, Microstation, AutoTURN, AviPLAN, SiteOps, ArcGIS, and Adobe Products would be beneficial.


    Job Performance Expectations:
    Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of CAD standards and best practices.
    Learn and successfully apply company, client, and project drafting standards.
    Demonstrate ability to exercise independent design decisions to complete required drawings.
    competent in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to Civil Design .

    Ability to work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and clients) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to accomplish objectives.

    Some travel may be required. More experienced technicians may attend design workshops or perform field inspections.
