    Position Description If you love high profile and challenging projects supporting the United States Navy - Serco has a great opportunity for you This Test Engineer Position will be on a dynamic team responsible for testing unmanned vehicle programs at our customer site in Norfolk, VA and in our Thurston Rd Virginia Beach office

    Serco supports the US Navy in the acquisition of new technology used to defend our nation
    Our team reviews acquisition documentation, develops test plans, executes test events, collects, and analyzes data, and writes test reports
    This includes programs supporting the US Navy's Operation Test Command (OPTEVFOR)
    You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality test analysis and reports
    The team supports Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock Division (CD) Code 80 at Little Creek and NOB Norfolk
    The position requires the ability to perform underway on Navy vessels and may permit occasional remote site work

    In this role, you will:

    • Perform as the Demonstration Lead Engineer that supports NSWCCD in the review of acquisition documents, development of demonstration and exercise plans, execution of pier side and underway demonstrations and exercises, the reduction and analysis of data, and the writing of demonstration and exercise result reports.
    • Plan operationally relevant events, in operationally relevant environments with fleet operators and end-users.
    • Interface with sponsors, fleet users and system stakeholders.
    • Survey and document operator feedback on system utility and performance.
    • Document Event objectives, assessment criteria, observations, and accomplishments.
    • Document test article configuration to include platform components, propulsion gear, onboard sensors, and associated onboard software and software version.
    • Provide daily situational reports (SITREPs) to summarize accomplishments, issues encountered, observations, and way forward
    Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will have:


    • Five to seven years of experience.
    • A Master's degree preferred, or a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in the field of test and evaluation or systems engineering

    In lieu of a degree, one can have ten years of experience in the field of test and evaluation or systems engineering.


    • A current or active DoD Secret Security clearance.

    Knowledge of the following for surface ships:

    • Test and Evaluation Policy and Methods Management
    • Technology Development Testing
    • Platform Performance Trials
    • Component & Systems Tests
    • Operational Evaluation
    • Test Instrumentation & Setup
    • Test Data Analysis & Reporting
    • Special Warfare Development Test & Evaluation
    • Underway Test & Evaluation
    • Disciplined, takes initiative, optimistic attitude, critical thinker.
    • Understanding of surface navy platforms and operations.
    • Secret Security Clearance.
    • Proficiency in technical writing.
    • Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point.
    • The ability to travel at least 25% of the time

    Additional desired experience and skills:

    • Experience serving on Naval surface ships.
    • Experience with unmanned systems and platforms highly desirable
