  • • Understands the project requirements, the scope of work, and deliverables.
  • • Provides leadership taking a holistic view of the project and makes independent project-level decisions that are trusted by the engineers.
  • • Prepares detail and layout drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs requiring the application of theoretical and practical engineering knowledge.
  • • Performs discipline design tasks that regularly require the application of fundamental engineering concepts with limited input and direction from the engineer or architect.
  • • May provide conceptual input to projects during the planning stages.
  • • Delegates and supervises tasks assigned to Designers and Technicians.
  • Coordinates design with other disciplines and coordinates work sharing within the team.
  • Ensures output is professional, consistent with prevailing standards and satisfies project requirements.
  • Interfaces with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production.
  • Provides training, guidance, and mentorship to staff.
  • Participates in interviewing other positions on this ladder and makes hiring recommendations.
  • Performs quality control on deliverables and incorporates Continuous Improvement into work processes.
  • Develops and implements new processes as required to ensure consistent quality.
  • May lead BIM/CAD activities on projects.
  • May manage BIM/CAD Library for discipline.
  • May manage BIM/CAD staff.

  • Qualifications

  • Experience: 12 years with a broad base in engineering design and technical support of engineering. Advanced expertise in computer operation and in CAD software. Proven ability to learn, adapt, and problem-solve to produce accurate and quality deliverables. Ability to work with all levels of personnel.
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in CAD preferred.
