JOB DESCRIPTION

Gas & Oil Mechanic

Salary Grade: U32

DEPARTMENT: POWER PRODUCTION GAS & OIL FIRED PLANTS

DUTIES: The mechanic is a journeyman in the craft and is under the general directive supervision of a working foreman or assigned supervisor.

The incumbent is skilled in the following areas:

To read and interpret prints and technical manuals.

Is an installer, troubleshooter, and a repairman.

Must have a broad knowledge of tools and their fundamental uses. This includes measuring tools, wrenches, screwdrivers, pipefitting tools, plumbing tools, woodworking tools, sheet metal tools, metal working tools, and hoisting and pulling tools. Must maintain tools as listed in the required tool list for mechanics.

The mechanic is active in the training of apprentices.

Is well versed in safety procedures as required by industrial safety standards and specifically as outlined in the Public Service Company of New Mexico Loss Control Standards.

Performs other related and assigned duties.
