Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Process Engineer to join our Specialty ingredients G.P., business at our Hopewell, VA location.
This is a very visible, significant role within the Company, and the Plant Engineering and Operations functions. This position will report to the Process Engineer Manager.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES include, but not limited to:
Follows site's Safety Policies and ProceduresInvestigate, discuss, and solve complex problems by interacting with manufacturing departments, contractors, and internal customers.
Help further company culture of implementing new solutions and continually improve existing processes. Evaluate current systems and modify as appropriate to improve performanceDetermines root cause of chronic operating problems. Recommends and assists in implementing solutionsAnalyzes production data and quality data to determine optimum operating conditionsUtilizes Lean manufacturing techniques/tools for identification and implementation of continuous improvement projectsProvides technical support for capital projects including creating function specification documentsSupport project implementation FAT and SATSupport the site's environmental, social, and governance (ESG), and sustainability initiativesInvestigates opportunities to improve plant through-put and capacityIn order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, other Engineering or Technology Degree3 + years' chemical plant manufacturing experienceThe following skills sets are preferred by the business unit:Previous experience with Control Systems (preferably Emerson Delta-V)Relevant automations experience (DCS / PLC control system configuration)Aspen Manufacturing systemsKnowledge of and/or use of Lean Six SigmaPrevious experience in Production OperationsExperience with Process Safety Management (PSM)Hazard AnalysisProven data analysis and problem-solving skills.
Proven planning and organization skills.
Proven self-starter with urgency for delivering results.
