    Description

    Trinity Episcopal School, an independent coeducational school for Grades 8-12, is seeking an energetic, passionate individual for a full-time position in the Visual Arts Department. This position will begin in the school year.

    Main responsibilities include teaching Ceramics I and Ceramics II, along with 3D Studio Workshop classes. The position requires working with students and colleagues in an open and collaborative environment both within the Arts Department and across the larger school community within the IB Arts sequence. In addition, the candidate for this visual arts position will also be involved with managing and maintaining the art studio.

    Prospective candidates should be committed to a holistic, process oriented approach to teaching art, have at least a BA or BFA and previous teaching experience in a secondary or higher education. Candidates must have practical experience and highly developed instructional skills in a wide range of throwing and hand building techniques, surface treatments and firing processes. In addition, the candidate should possess a thorough knowledge of the multicultural history and techniques utilized by ceramicists.

    A strong background in ceramics studio practices and Fundamentals of Art is preferred. Trinity is an International Baccalaureate World School; a background in IB is helpful but not required. The candidate should understand the physicality necessary to manage the studio, including lifting and recycling clay.

    Supervisory Responsibilities: In addition to regular classes and art room and advisory expectations, supervision of student interns may be required.
