- Performs the pre-anesthetic patient history and physical, including collection of pre-operative consults and data.
- Formulates the anesthetic plan.
- Describes the anesthetic risks, benefits, and options to the patient.
- Administers inhalation, regional, intravenous, local and topical anesthetics.
- Continually evaluates the patient's physical status and response to anesthesia.
- Performs post-anesthetic management of patients.
- Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administration of emergency fluids and medications.
- Assists in the development of policies, procedures, and protocols related to anesthesia.

Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
