- Plan and implement a physical therapy therapy program that addresses the goals, objectives, and benchmarks in the Individualized Education Program of students with disabilities on PT caseload
- Design, direct, plan, and implement appropriate therapy strategies consistent with the IEP to prevent, correct, treat or alleviate physical impairments
- Provide direct or consultative support intended to improve the educational outcomes for students with disabilities
- Develop appropriate strategies and interventions utilizing evidence-based practices
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively as part of a student-centered, multi-disciplinary team including parents, teachers, and other professionals
- Complete all necessary documentation and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner
- Support instruction to assigned students as addressed in the students' IEP
- Act as a consultant to promote and enhance access to educational programs for students with disabilities on her/his caseload
- Integrate therapy services to enhance instruction within the classroom curriculum
- Collaborate with building principals and other professionals in providing services to students
- Observe confidentiality requirements for identified students
- Maintain scheduled consultation and collaboration with teachers appropriate for the student's IEP
- Communicate the physical therapy requirements of the student's IEP in a manner in which all professionals and paraprofessionals involved with the student understand their responsibilities
- Provide input or collaborate with the Teacher of Record in a timely manner for progress monitoring in the IEPs of students on the caseload through the Indiana IEP system
- Assume responsibility for continued learning, which may include a clinical instructor role
- Advise, monitor, and train personnel on the proper use of equipment
- If applicable to the assignment and training, advise, monitor, and train personnel on the proper use of restraints including therapeutic supports or prompts
- Provide input regarding any accommodations need for statewide and district assessments being implemented according to the student's IEP if requested by the Teacher of Record
- Keep records and notes for Medicaid through the IIEP system
- Collaborate with teachers of record to create and maintain accurate individual evacuation plans for students with disabilities
- Evaluate developmental levels, gross motor function, reflex levels, range of motion, muscular strength, and respiratory function
- Conduct assessments with interpretation, observations, interviews, history, standardized and non-standardized tests, and informal assessments related to referrals for an educational evaluation
- Consult with teachers, school psychologists, speech pathologists, assistive technology team members, and parents
- Provide case conference committee with data to support the determination of discharge, summary of outcomes, and appropriate recommendations to maximize educational gains
- Attend training to update knowledge on new technology and best practices for teaching students
- Ensure that all equipment remains in good working order, and report damaged equipment to the individual responsible for maintaining equipment inventory
- Monitor and maintain district or corporation provided wheelchairs and other mobility equipment in working order
- Maintain an inventory of all related services equipment that is purchased by BGCS
- Other Duties and Responsibilities as may be assigned
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program
- Current license to practice physical therapy issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency
- Knowledge of pediatric conditions and pediatric physical therapy
- Knowledge of and compliance with Indiana special education regulations and IDEA
- Requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, push or pull heavy objects or persons
- Requires the ability to drive between schools in the district
- Requires the ability to stoop, bend, reach, and climb stairs
- Requires the ability to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work in noisy crowded environments
- Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job

A Physical Therapist at BGCS serves a pediatric population of eligible students with disabilities ages 3 through 21 years across the school corporation.
The provision of Physical Therapy services must be provided by a licensed physical therapist only upon the referral or order of a licensed medical provider as specified by state law governing licensing of physical therapists, or by a physical therapists' assistant under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
