    Description


    In this role you will provide direct patient care for diverse patient population within multiple Dermatology practices, working with faculty physicians, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner fellows, residents, medical students, nursing staff, patient services staff and ancillary personnel.

    You will report directly to the RN Supervisor and/or Clinic Manager and assist with day to day patient care, inbasket messages, incoming/outgoing phone interactions, relaying physician instructions, medication prior authorization, topical numbing, providing patient instructions and/or education, procedure assistance (biopsies, excisions, Mohs, and Cosmetic procedures).

    Ability to float within Dermatology locations.

    Required:


    Possess active license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with Intravenous Therapy and blood withdrawal certification.

    Possession of active CPR BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.


    Knowledge of dermatologic terminology and disease condition sufficient to communicate treatment status with patients and their families, medical faculty and staff, and other health professionals.

    Ability to keep a running inventory

    Knowledge of UCLA forms, patient admissions, etc.

    Knowledge of surgical dressing applications.

    Knowledge of lasers

    Skill in setting priorities which accurately reflect the relative importance of job responsibilities

    Knowledge of surgical instruments

    Knowledge of operating and maintaining standard surgical medical equipment

    Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction

    Skill in performing under the stress of frequent interruptions and/or distractions

    Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature


    Skill in analyzing information, problem situations, practices or procedures to define the problem or objective and formulate logical and objective conclusions.

    Skill in organizing workflow to accomplish established objectives, delegating responsibility; training new employees.

    Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff.

    Skill in working as part of a team - collaborating with other staff members.

    Skill in fostering a stimulating, accepting learning environment

    Skill in speaking to persons of various backgrounds to explain policies, procedures and treatment in the clinic.

    Ability to speak on a one-to-one basis using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and explain medical treatment procedures

    Skill in reading medical documents, such as patient charts, biopsy results and routine correspondence from health professionals

    Skill in reading English words, simple sentences and numbers on documents so they can properly be compiled and filed.

    Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct analytical reports to explain patient's progress and charting

    Skill in writing grammatically correct routine business correspondence such as brief transmittal memoranda

    Knowledge of medical terminology to record pre-admit diagnosis on admissions forms
