    Yamhill County has two regular full-time position for a Peer Support Specialist to work in the Yamhill County Community Support Services.

    In this position you will work with multi-disciplinary teams and provide community-based services to assist individuals in accessing resources, addressing barriers related to their mental health, and developing skills that promote recovery and wellness.

    Responsibilities include utilizing personal mental health experiences to provide mentoring and support; assisting individuals with utilizing recovery skills, providing linkage with local peer organizations and community resources, identifying strengths to achieve individual goals, and may provide both individual and group peer services.

    Candidates must embrace the philosophy of resilience and recovery, be a role model for persons receiving mental health services and have personal experience with and knowledge of recovery.

    The Qualifications:
    Bachelor's degree in human services related field.

    OR
    A combination of at least one year's work experience AND two years' post-secondary education in human services related field.

    OR
    A high school diploma AND three years' work experience in human services related field.

    Peer Support Specialist certification from a state-approved program or the ability to obtain certification within two (2) months of hire is required.

    Must have an NPI number or the ability to obtain one upon employment.

    A valid Oregon driver's license is required as well as successful completion of a criminal background check, the results of which may not be cause for disqualification.


    The Candidate:


    As a Peer Support Specialist, you must be a self-identified current or former recipient of mental health services who embraces the philosophy of resilience and recovery, who is willing to be a role model for persons receiving mental health services, and ideally, have experience with an array of mental health services such as medication management, supported housing, supported employment, hospitalization, etc., and personal experience and knowledge of recovery.

    The successful candidate will have good written and verbal communication skills, general keyboarding, and computer skills (including working knowledge of Microsoft Office, a valid license to drive in Oregon, and must have excellent personal boundaries, organizational skills, and demonstrated honesty, accuracy, and integrity.
