- Administer and document regular oral medications safely to residents.
- Administer PRN oral medications with nurse authorization.
- Understand that only licensed nurses can administer injectable medications.
- Follow the protocol that QMA's cannot accept telephone or verbal orders.
- Ensure necessary vital signs are taken and recorded before administering specific medications.
- Certified as a Qualified Medication Aide in Indiana, including insulin certification.
- Completion of a state-approved medication administration training program.
- Possession of a current health certificate mandated by state regulations.
- Perform tasks within the scope of the approved training program.
