    Description

    Join our Team as a Lead Diesel Technician

Ensuring the safe daily transportation of over 850,000 children to school is no small feat, and we have the top-notch maintenance and team to make it happen. We are currently seeking a driven Lead Diesel Technician to join our crew in O'Fallon on the day shift, with weekends off.

    Job Overview:

    In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop, where you'll maintain, repair, and overhaul school buses and company vehicles. You'll need to rely on your experience and judgment to set and achieve goals, directing the work of others and providing training to the maintenance staff. This position offers autonomy and room for independent decision-making.

    • Supervising day-to-day shop staff
    • Scheduling and managing fleet maintenance
    • Ensuring compliance with State, Federal, and Company regulations
    • Ordering fuel and parts, as well as arranging repair services
    • Completing assigned projects and hands-on work activities
    • Communicating vehicle availability for service with the team
    • Handling disciplinary matters and employee development
    • Repairing and maintaining diesel engines and school bus equipment

    Requirements:

    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Preferably technical training

    Experience & Skills:

    • Minimum 3 years in transportation industry
    • 3+ years of mechanical experience
    • Preferably 3+ years of hands-on mechanical managerial experience
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to work early morning hours
    • Professional conduct and attire
    • Compliance with safety guidelines and regulations
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other software
    • Willingness to acquire CDL Operators license
    • Ability to use office equipment and electronic devices
