    Job Summary

    The Sr Solutions Architect is responsible for promoting the use of industry and Company technology standards and staying abreast of current and emerging technologies/technological practices to assist in the strategic decisions of the company. The Sr Solutions Architect designs and develops infrastructure and solutions in support of business processes, expansion, strategic sales, and support of the commercial business.

    The Senior Solutions Architect will be responsible for leading teams that are focused on selling Turnkey Broadband Solutions, to Irby's Utility customers throughout the United States. The Senior Solutions Architect will provide complex design, network planning, and project coordination, technical support to the business development team. The Senior Solutions Architect role is a matrix role which interfaces with all key associates and departments to ensure successful delivery of complex solutions to customers.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead technical solutions to architectural, development and operational teams on assigned projects to ensure accurate and on-time project completion.
  • Drive technical solutions by following technology strategies and standards, roadmaps and practices.
  • Track and document requirements for enterprise development projects and enhancements.
  • Assist management with project prioritization during the planning phase.
  • Understand possible project challenges on constraints including risks, time, resources, and scope.
  • Present solutions to Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, and business leadership.
  • Mentor team members in relevant technologies and implementation architecture.
  • Work with vendors and internal departments to ensure customer needs are met via vendor provided solutions or in house architectural design changes.
  • Perform testing and evaluation process for both routing/switching and transport networks based on specific customer requirements. Solutions may be new, existing, in-house, third party or a combination.
  • Handle project work as it is assigned and develop High-Level and Low-Level designs. Ability to work tasks with minimal assistance.
  • Write process and configuration documentation for new/existing networks deployments.
  • Analyze existing network deployments and recommend solutions to correct design issues or end of life products and plan out network upgrades.
  • Participate in engineering meetings and provides input on routine and complex technical solutions for network deployments involving routing/switching and transport equipment such as Juniper routing and switching platforms and Ciena 6500 or DZS Saber platforms.
  • Research network technologies and stay up to date on advancements in the field to ensure growth opportunities for our customers.
  • Evaluate new vendor firmware versions and make determinations/recommendations based on release notes, bug fixes, and new feature sets.
  • Other duties responsibilities as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience working in a Telecom, or IT environment.
  • Bachelor's degree or comparable experience in Telecommunications, Networking, Cloud or Computer Science.
  • Inquisitive nature and creative holistic approach of exploring new concepts and approaches.
  • Positive outlook in meeting challenges and working to a high level.
  • Confident when presenting to peers and management within the organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects at the same time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills that can drive consensus and push new ideas within the organization.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to solve technical and business issues.
  • Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, boundary partners, and customers.
  • Ability to listen to multiple points of view and identify key issues and justify recommended solutions.
  • Familiarity with business analysis techniques and processes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to document network deployments and develop training for operational/engineering departments.
  • Experience with deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting IP networks on both IPv4 and IPv6.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with designing routing deployments and/or optimizing routing protocols (BGP and OSPF preferred).
  • Must be self-directed, analytical and be able to produce/interpret network diagrams/schematics.
  • Ability to troubleshoot access, routing/switching, and transport platforms to include in band and out of band network management functions.
  • Expert level understanding of network protocols and ability to troubleshoot multiple layers of the OSI Model with a concentration on layers 1-4.
  • Flexibility to learn new tools and work with other teams to ensure optimal deployment of all network related products
  • Ability to work with customers and interpret their requirements and provide network solutions that meet their needs.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Gigabit Passive Optical Networks (G-PON/XGS PON) (DZS MXK Platform preferred)
  • Networking related certifications such as Network+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), Juniper Network Certified Intermediate Associate (JNCIA) or above (preferred), or equivalent (certification does not need to be active/current)
  • Expert Level Experience with command line and NMS interfaces and ability to provision and troubleshoot router/switch configuration and transport systems. (Preferred JUNOS or DZS/Ciena Platforms)
  • Experience with deploying and troubleshooting CGNAT appliances (A10 Platform preferred)
  • Previous experience working for an ISP and understanding of ISP processes and common practices.
  • General understanding of DC power and grounding from a Central Office (CO) perspective.
  • Experience with Optical Transport Networks (Ciena 6500 or DZS Saber platforms preferred)
  • Ability to develop training and process/procedural documentation for new systems.
  • Proven track record over time in providing customer focused solutions and the ability to implement solutions and guide other departments to success as needed.
  • Broad understanding of Network Management Systems and tools/protocols used to monitor network equipment.
