Description

The Cabinet Manufacturing Manager is responsible for all cabinet assembly and accessory pick-and-wrap operations.

This role manages the salaried supervisors for the cabinet assembly area and the accessory cell that picks, packs, and wraps hardware and accessories for each kitchen order. The Cabinet Manufacturing Manager ensures that cabinets are assembled to specification, accessories are complete and correctly matched to each order, and all finished goods are packed, labeled, and staged on time to meet shipping and customer requirements.

This position leads and develops salaried supervisors and their hourly teams, drives safety, quality, delivery, cost, and continuous improvement (CI) performance, and coordinates daily and longer-range plans with Assembly, Trim, Packaging, and Shipping personnel in all areas of responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to producing a quality product for our customers.
  • Lead and develop salaried supervisors for the cabinet assembly area and accessory pick-and-wrap cell; set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and manage performance in line with company policies.
  • Ensure supervisors effectively lead their hourly teams in meeting daily and weekly safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Oversee cabinet assembly processes, including frame and box assembly, installation of hardware, hinges, drawers, doors, and accessories, inspection, packing, and staging for shipment.
  • Oversee accessory pick-and-wrap operations, ensuring all knobs, pulls, rollout trays, moldings, trim, and related accessories are accurately picked, packaged, labeled, and matched to the correct orders.
  • Plan and manage work over a rolling 30-day horizon, aligning labor, equipment, and materials with the master production schedule and changing customer demand.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning, Component Manufacturing, Whitewood Prep, Finishing, and Shipping to balance flow, minimize bottlenecks, and maintain on-time completion of orders.
  • Ensure accurate use of Insight Shop Floor or similar systems to scan, track, and report assembly and accessory-cell status, including work-in-process, completions, and rework.
  • Monitor product quality at each stage of assembly and packing; partner with Quality and supervisors to contain defects, reduce rework, and protect the customer.
  • Drive continuous improvement (CI) in assembly and accessory operations using lean tools (e.g., 5S, standard work, visual management, root-cause problem solving) to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost.
  • Develop supervisors' CI capabilities so they can lead daily improvement within their teams, including effective use of metrics, tier meetings, and problem-solving routines.
  • Manage key performance indicators for the assembly areas, including safety, quality, on-time completion, throughput, labor efficiency, and overtime; communicate results and action plans to the Production Manager and leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health & Safety regulations and company policies, including required PPE and safe machine and material-handling practices.
  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards in assembly lines, accessory cells, and finished-goods staging areas.
  • Participate in hiring, training, and development of salaried supervisors and key hourly roles; ensure effective onboarding and cross-training to support flexibility and coverage.
  • Provide clear, timely communication to the Production Manager and other stakeholders regarding schedule risk, capacity constraints, major quality issues, and resource needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • 5 years of experience in manufacturing operations, preferably in wood products, cabinetry, or building products; experience in assembly or final packaging operations strongly preferred.
  • 3 years of experience leading salaried front-line leaders (supervisors or team leaders) and hourly production teams.
  • Working knowledge of cabinet assembly processes, hardware and accessory installation, order configuration, and final inspection/packing.
  • Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing tools (such as 5S, standard work, visual management, and root-cause problem solving).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan work and resources over a 30-day horizon and to adjust quickly to changes in demand, mix, or upstream performance.
  • Experience using production information systems and shop-floor data collection tools (such as Insight Shop Floor) to monitor status, throughput, and performance.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, develop, and hold both salaried supervisors and hourly employees accountable for results.
  • Proven problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills in a fast-paced, high-mix manufacturing environment.
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills (email, spreadsheets, presentations, and production or ERP systems).
