    We're looking for Instagram's Data Science lead for the Business group (IGB), which creates products used by billions of people and millions of businesses every day. At the heart of IGB, we give every business the platform to create an inspiring and creative presence. We empower people to discover, engage, and transact with the businesses and products they love. And we create the spark that leads to authentic and meaningful relationships between people and businesses. Some of the most important bets for IGB right now are cracking the nut on making monetizing Reels, which makes up over half of time spent on Instagram, as effective as other surfaces; optimizing ads supply through new surfaces, contextuality, and smart ad load to better balance how and where ads are shown across IG across surfaces and within surfaces; optimizing personalized ad load to discover supply distributions that grow revenue AND organic impressions, maximizing user LTV; continuing to innovate on our current ads system to make all ads feel more native, relevant and engaging; and growing demand through investment in verticals and IG first advertisers (SMBs). The Director of Data Science is directly responsible for managing the data science team to ensure proper goaling, experimentation, and forecasting and to develop insights that identify the biggest opportunities for the Instagram community and drive overall group strategy. Additionally, this leader is responsible for leadership development with IGB Analytics to ensure the org has capacity to further scale. This leader will serve on Instagram's core analytics leadership circle to help improve cross-Instagram Analytics team processes such as recruiting, training, and performance management, and will work closely with senior-most ads leadership across Monetization and Facebook app, as well. You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the world, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights turned into real products on a regular basis. The perfect candidate will have strong product intuition, experience with ads, experience building and managing analytics teams, will have worked with large data stores, and experience building software. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, progression, and user engagement of a product.

    Director Data Science, Instagram Business Responsibilities

    • Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
    • Inspire, lead and grow a team of data scientists.
    • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data in developing data-informed strategies for growing and improving our product offerings.
    Minimum Qualifications
    • 10+ years of work experience managing analytics teams, working collaboratively with Product, Engineering and cross-functional partners, and guiding data-influenced product planning, prioritization and strategy development.
    • Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining and scaling diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams.
    • Proven experience influencing product strategy and drive change across org boundaries through clear and compelling communication of data-driven insights and analyses.
    • Intellectual curiosity and drive experience, decisiveness, ambiguity and complexity, bias towards action.
