    Working as part of the Global Hardware Platform team, this Mechanical Engineer role will work focus on the design of our hardware solutions for the platforms supporting ASM's process chambers in ALD, PE-ALD and Epitaxy applications.

    Working on design and R&D projects, you will collaborate and partner with key stakeholders to ensure innovative design solutions enabling next generation of semiconductor devices, memory chips and microprocessors.


    Responsibilities:

    Working in a global engineering team, develop designs for systems and products within our platform group, supporting ASM process chambers using sound engineering principles and fundamentals of physics Working in a cross-functional team environment, drive design decisions based on data-first principles and applicable standards, to ensure designs meet high level product specifications.

    Drive designs from concept to HVM. Support development and testing of hardware to verify performance. Create test plans, verify and approve test procedures.

    Utilize 3D CAD (Creo) to carry out all design related activity Utilize 2D CAD and sound GD&T principles create engineering drawings Perform engineering analysis including solving structural, thermal and fluid dynamics problems Establish and maintain product configuration and structure using modern PLM packages Present and participate in design reviews for new products and design enhancements.

    Drive engineering related DFx activity Collaborate with suppliers during concept phase to solve fabrication related technical challenges Prepare installation and procedure documentation for the manufacturing and testing of prototype and production released products.

    Assist supply chain and marketing in preparation of cost estimates dealing with options, new system features and product enhancements.


    Education & Experience:
    Masters in Mechanical Engineering preferred. Bachelors acceptable with related experience and demonstration of technical capabilities. 5-10 years of mechanical engineering 3D design experience. Creo experience preferred, but NX, Catia, Solidworks are acceptable.

    Experience in Semiconductor Equipment or other capital equipment industry is highly preferred, including design of vacuum chambers, vacuum systems, wafer handling systems, gas delivery, fluid delivery, control systems and robotics.

    Hands on experience and working knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis for structural, cooling/heating and vibration problems.

    (Anysys, Comsol, etc) Experience/knowledge with part fabrication including CNC machining, sheet metal, welding, specialty coating, cleaning, etc Experience with modern DFx practices preferred (Design for manufacturability, safety, cost,etc) Knowledgeable in modern PLM methodologies and tools.

    Knowledge of Semi (ie S2) standards is preferred Able to work in a fast paced team orientated environment, supporting global customer base.

    Able to act as mentor for junior level engineers. Able to manage large design projects independently with minimal supervision. Able to travel domestically and internationally (<10%) when conditions allow. Job requires working in a lab environment and cleanroom manufacturing floor. Requires manual tasks including lifting >30lbs weight and working in tight spots.
