    Job Summary:

    The cutting machine operator is responsible for setting up and operating machines, monitoring operation, and recording operational data.

    Essential Functions:

    • Reads work orders to determine product specifications or material requirements, such as samples, kits, and/or lengths.
    • Installs, connects, and adjusts equipment per order requirements.
    • Positions, adjusts, and feeds material manually to complete orders.
    • Cuts material according to customer specifications.
    • Maintains a thorough knowledge of material/machines.
    • Utilizes all machines for maximum efficiency whenever possible.
    • Maintains database of stocked cut parts, when applicable.
    • Ensures that all the information per cut job is contained in SPC chart, when applicable.
    • Verifies job is within tolerance, otherwise adjusts accordingly.
    • Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction.
    • Keeps area clean and tidy on a daily basis.
    • Forecasts ahead to realize when heat treated material are needed.
    • Creates template for cutting job off customer drawing, when applicable.
    • Controls cuts by using color mapping program, when applicable.
    • Performs maintenance and cleaning of laser machine, when applicable.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    Perform additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.

    Knowledge, Skills, & Capabilities:

    • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of materials, production processes, quality control, and completion of training.
    • Knowledge of basic computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Outlook and RF Scanning
    • Communication Skills- Active Listening and Verbal Communication.
    • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
    • Ability to work a consistent schedule.
    • Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
    • Ability to move freight, stock, or other materials weighing up to 50 lbs. to and from storage or production areas, by hand, trucks, or other equipment.
    • Ability to stand for sustained periods of time.
    • Visual acuity to examine or inspect material.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Standing for sustained periods of time.
    • Applying constant pressure to material with fingers and palm.
    • Making substantial movements/motions of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • Frequently lifting and/or moving spools weighing up to 50 lbs.
    • Sharp vision required.

    Work Environment:

    • Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles.
    • Noise level is usually moderate to high.

    Education:

    High School Diploma or Equivalent

    Experience:

    At least 1 years' experience related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
