    Responsible for providing adult career coaching services and case management to participants supporting the Strengthening Community Colleges Training grant program. Provides information on careers, career pathways, and educational requirements to ensure it aligns with one of the targeted industry sectors and results in an industry-recognized credential. Facilitates employment workshops, workplace readiness, and professional soft skills training. Ensures participants identify a training program, apply for admission, and enroll in coursework. Provides supportive coaching throughout the program and coordination with support services to ensure program retention and completion. Participates in individual and small group employability skills activities. Assists participants in navigating the workforce system and connecting the student to supportive services available on campus and in the community through mental health services or other organizations. Develops transition materials and resources to assist students. Provides placement and job-retention services to the participant throughout their support employment experience and works with employers to resolve any barriers. Individual reports to the Williamsburg Trade Center Coordinator. This position is funded by a Department of Labor grant.
    Special Assignments
    May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
    KSA's/Required Qualifications
    Relevant work-related experience working with adult learners' career counseling services.

    Knowledge:
    • Working knowledge of but limited to job search skills, resume writing skills, interview skills, and professional soft skills.
    • Knowledge of available networks, resources, and career assessment tools.
    • Knowledge of labor market trends and opportunities
    • Knowledge of training and coaching strategies effective to strengthening participants' "soft" skills.
    • Working knowledge of the workforce development system: its structure, operations, and linkages between required partners.
    • Thorough knowledge of goal setting, action planning, and implementing an action plan.
    Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal skills to help engage, support, and motivate customers and engage business partners effectively.
    • Effective communication skills both oral and written.
    • Effective problem-solving, coaching, career counseling, and facilitation skills.
    • Proficient in using Microsoft Office.
    • Effective time management and organization skills.
    Ability to:
    • Analyze individual's skills, interests, and goals to provide personalized career development and options.
    • Work with individuals from underserved and diverse populations.
    • Develop individual action plans with individual clients.
    • Motivate and inspire others.
    • Function independently with limited supervision.
    • Understand and leverage available resources.
    • Maintain confidentiality.
