    Position Summary:

    This position will work with the practice patients, MRI Technologists, clinical teams, referral coordinators and SKIs contract person on accurately scheduling the patients for their MRI exam. The X-ray Technician retrieves all MRI orders through SRS imaging pool, enters basic demographics and sends messages to the Medical Assistants on the patients appointment date and time through SRS messaging. The X-ray Technician will meet or beat the expected scheduling goals. As a licensed X-ray Tech, doing coverage, you will be responsible for facilitating patient flow through the x-ray department of facility in a professional manner, and for initiating and completing diagnostic exams and paperwork as prescribed by the physician. The X-Ray Technician will exceed the expectations of every patient by treating them with the utmost care, compassion and respect.     Major Position Responsibilities:

    • Maintains a safe, clean working environment, including unit based safety and infection control requirements.
    • Scheduling
      • Checks daily the Imaging Pool in SRS to retrieve MRI orders
      • Manage requisitions and physicians orders in the Cerner EMR application
      • Modify, start and complete exams in the RadNet application within Cerners EMR
      • Double check Authorizations, Diagnosis description and CPT codes are on all orders
      • Message all Medical Assistants in SRS on patients appointment date and time
      • Fill cancellation or NO SHOW appointments diligently to meet goal
      • Work with OCM, Next Image, MIS, DOC organizations on scheduling MRIs
      • Schedule outside Referrals appropriately with complete documentation
      • Update MRI techs of add on patients and STAT request
      • Schedule Dexa scans in-house and outside requests
      • Answer returning calls and or X-Ray request
    • Cross function
      • Works in collaboration with registration, front desk and clinical personnel and MRI tech
      • During times of high volume or absenteeism or scheduled time off, X-ray tech will be asked to provide coverage for Carlsbad or Oceanside X-ray department
    • X-ray Coverage
      • Initiates contact with patients in a friendly, courteous and professional manner
      • Performs digital x-ray exam (within the scope of the limited permit) as prescribed by physicians, following all radiation precautions
      • Makes sure to wear designated Dosimetry badge each day
      • Clocks in on computer promptly and works at work station at assigned time
      • Turns on the Swissray HDDR and/or Carestream/Quatum wireless digital machines and performs QAs and/or Daily Dark each day
      • Practices the OSNC culture for the safety of each patient and to consistently maintain a record of zero safety infractions
      • Maintains full compliance with Title 22, Title 17, OSHA and safety code standards
      • Teamwork is mandatory for safety as well as keeping organized and prepared for x-ray rushes
      • Keeps CPR certification current
      • Performs all necessary record keeping, such as charges on Caretracker
      • Reviews all Radiology department protocols and Radiation protection manual annually
      • Set up of X-ray guided Hip Injections
      • Wraps or burns CDs, MRIs or indicates in PACS system for surgeries
      • Gather x-rays or CD from work stations at the end of day and imports into PACS
      • Imports Surgery fluoroscopy picture into PACS
      • Stocks x-ray room with supplies such as pillow cases, pillow covers as needed at the end of every working day
      • Clean x-ray table and pad, equipment stands with disinfectant wipes at the end of working day and document weekly
      • Takes responsibility for general cleanliness and appearance of work area
      • Stocks changing room with shorts
      • Treats patients with the utmost dignity when having them change
      • Performs all other duties as assigned.
    • Customer Service:
      • All OSNC employees are required to maintain the highest level of customer service at all times. Employees must always speak in a kind, courteous and professional manner when dealing with a patient/customer or co-worker.

    Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of medical and/or orthopedic terminology
    • Word processing and computer experience

    Education:

    • High school diploma or GED, required.

    Licenses:

    • XT, required.

    Certification:

    • BLS required upon hire; American Heart Association; Healthcare Provider.
