**Job Description**
A Technical Support Specialist is responsible for understanding and using multiple biological instruments and software systems; verifying proper functioning of biological assays on GSD supported instrumentation; providing remote support and troubleshooting assistance for customers; maintaining detailed documentation of complaints; and assisting the technical service team as needed. This position is primarily intended to provide technical and biological support for GSD customers via telephone and email and may include "on-call" hours which are worked remotely and with flexible hours.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
Work with customers to provide technical and biological assistance over the phone or via email
Provide high quality customer service
Keep detailed documentation of customer communications
Assist with on call technical support coverage to address complaints and resolve customer issues as needed
Assist Senior Technical Support Specialists with documentation and customer calls
Recognize and communicate product issues, complaints, and improvements to management
Verify and maintain proper functioning of laboratory equipment
Troubleshoot, test, and repair instrumentation as needed
Assist with compilation and review of customer assay data
Assist laboratory with meeting regulatory requirements
**Non-Essential Responsibilities**
Maintain cleanliness of laboratory and equipment
Assist with employee training when needed
Assist Technical Services with related projects as needed
**Qualifications**

**Education/****Experience**
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Bachelor of Science degree in a biological science is preferred as well as 1-2 years of previous work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Previous diagnostic instrumentation or diagnostic industry experience preferred
**Computer Skills**
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Internet Explorer, Chrome, or Firefox
Must be willing and able to learn other software programs as needed
**Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities**
General Laboratory knowledge (use of equipment; pipetting; personal safety, general lab practices)
Technical knowledge of Immunochemistry & ELISA testing
Knowledge of FDA Quality System Regulations (cGMP) and International Standards (ISO) pertaining to medical devices
Ability to communicate technical information and problems with customers and co-workers
Ability to learn new & existing instrumentation and software technology
Maintain systems for tracking proper functioning of tests and equipment, software versions, and test file versions
Ability to manually run tests
Diplomacy and tact in resolving issues with customers and co-workers
Evaluate software and determine causes of malfunctions
General technical and customer assistance
Record data, make computations, analyze results, and write reports
