    MAJOR WORKINGCONDITIONS:
    This individual works closely with Human Resources. Internal contacts are with management and employees. External contacts are with regulatory agencies, customers, insurance representatives, and general public.


    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
    To develop, provide, and oversee training programs that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the corporation; to ensure regulatory compliance in safety matters and to oversee the development and implementation of the companys Safety-First program

    DUTIES:
    TrainingPrepares and conducts training programs.
    Confers with management to gain knowledge of identified work situations requiring preventive or remedial training.

    Analyzes training needs and determines best option (in-house or outside), availability, and costs, and makes recommendations; maintains awareness of training assistance and availability from outside sources.

    Formulates teaching outlines; selects and develops teaching aids (i.e. handbooks, models, visual aids, etc.)Conducts training sessions to include new employee orientation, On-The
    • Job training, apprenticeship, refresher, promotional development, upgrading, retraining displaced workers, leadership development, etc.
    Tests trainees to measure learning progress and to evaluate the effectiveness of presentations.

    SafetyPlans, implements and coordinates programs and incorporates these programs into operational policies to reduce occupational injuries, illnesses, and financial losses.

    Develop and implement a company-wide safety program to identify and appraise conditions and to prevent and correct unsafe environmental working conditions.

    Maintains liaison with outside agencies (i.e., insurance companies, fire departments, regulatory bodies, etc.) and maintains currency in regulations and new programs and procedures.

    Examines new operational procedures and plans and specifications for machinery and equipment to ascertain if safety precautions have been included.

    Inspects operational procedures to determine places where danger of injury exists.

    Instructs drivers in traffic and safety regulations, care of equipment, and company policies and procedures; rides with drivers; investigates accidents.

    Trains employees and supervisors in safety, conservation of equipment and driving hazards.
    Confers with managers on accident/incident rates and abuse of equipment and recommends measures for improvement.
    Studies each accident to minimize recurrence; coordinates or conducts safety and first aid classes or trains instructors.
    Maintains OSHA logs and ensures DOT compliance.
    Oversees safety committees and task forces as required.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Requires a Bachelors Degree in Safety Administration or some other related field, or a combination of relevant experience Minimum five years of experience in a safety and/or training environment Proficient with personal computers using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

    Ability to work with an HRISAbility to deal with all levels of employees and vendors in a professional mannerAbility to openly communicate problems to supervisor/ ability to maintain confidentiality in financial and personnel-related mattersKnowledge of OSHA requirements and regulationsKnowledge of DOT/FMCSA and NC DOT driver requirements and retention protocolsKnowledge of I9/EVerify document retentionAbility to sit for at least 6-8 hours/dailyAbility to lift 50 pounds at least once a monthAbility to lift 30 pounds frequentlyPossession of a valid NC driver's licensebility to travel occasionallyAbility to pass the companys background and Motor Vehicle Report and the companys drug testing requirementsPreferred Skills:
