    SUMMARY:


    The primary focus of the position is to create and foster a safety culture that is both preventative and proactive.

    In conjunction with the culture, this position has a compliance component that is equally important is to ensure that JL Clark Rockford/Lancaster facilities comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations.

    The position will provide full time Environmental Health and Safety support to the operations and will ensure that all practices are in compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

    The position will be responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and its permitting applications. Support the development and coordination of training programs in support with JL Clark's philosophy. The EHS will work under the Continuous Improvement Manager. This job is located in the Rockford Facility but will require travel at least 25% of time to the Lancaster Plant.
    • Communication
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Employees, Operations, Managers, and Supervisors in order to further the J.
    L. Clark focus of prevention and being proactive. Participate in manufacturing meetings to discuss workplace safety, hazard elimination, and regulatory concerns and opportunities.
    • Training
    • Provides all OSHA compliance training.
    Creates, distributes, and monitors all Tool box training and monitors compliance for both facilities. Develops safety procedures/process and programs for all departments at both locations. Maintains all EHS training records.
    • Environmental
    • Develops and establishes regular audit schedule for environmental and safety issues.
    Works with J.L. Clark's environmental provider, TRC. Distributes reports and filing prepared by TRC to the proper governmental agencies when due.
    • Maintaining Records-Maintains EPA records of hazardous waste, air emission, permitting, and water pollution discharge, as well as industrial health monitoring and records of employee hazard exposure according to EPA and OSHA regulations.
    Maintains all SDS in both locations.
    • Safety
    • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safety standards/programs, compliance plans, and initiatives.
    Participate in the investigation of near misses, accidents, and property damage incidents. Ensure follow-up and corrective actions are completed to minimize future exposure. Proper records/documents are maintained for all incidents/accidents. The EHS Specialist will lead the Safety team and work closely with the ERGO team.
    • Environmental Representative
    • In conjunction with TRC serve as the primary contact for all regulatory agencies for inspections, permitting, reporting (air, water, waste) Duties as assigned
    • Duties assigned by their supervisor.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:


    Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline and or at least 5 years of experience in environmental Health and Safety or related field in a manufacturing environment.

    Membership in any of these organizations would be a plus:

    NASP (National Association of Safety Professionals) NESHTA (National Environmental Safety & Health Training Association), ASSE (American Society of Safety Engineers), or BCSP (Board of Certified Safety Professionals).
