Job Overview/Summary:
The client is in search of a Sr. Software Engineer with Java/J2EE expertise to join their team in Arden Hills, MN.

This individual will have a key role in defining and implementing software solutions, following best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.

This role demands a high level of initiative and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities:
- Designing, developing, debugging, modifying, and testing software programs using Java, C++, Perl, and other modern programming languages.
- Documenting software development processes and creating necessary documentation such as change requests, reports, and memos.
- Monitoring software development progress using approved tracking management tools.
- Analyzing engineering issues and suggesting appropriate actions.
- Ensuring compliance with quality policies and documented procedures.
- Serving as a primary contact on projects or contracts, resolving issues with discretion and diplomacy.
- Mentoring junior staff by setting examples and offering guidance.

Primary Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- 5+ years of experience with Java, C++, and Perl/Python.
- Hands-on experience in Unit testing and Integration testing.
- Proficiency across the full software development lifecycle, involving design, requirements, implementation, and testing.
- Knowledge of Lean/Agile development methodologies.

Secondary Skills (Good to Have):
- Experience in regulated industries like medical devices with standards such as IEC 62304.
- Proficiency in multi-threaded Java application development on Linux and Windows platforms.
- Collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams, including systems, firmware, and hardware engineers.
- Familiarity with integrated systems involving hardware test platforms and wireless communication technologies.
- Proficiency with tools like the Atlassian software suite, Eclipse, and Ubuntu Linux.

Qualifications:
- BS or MS Degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Openness to relocating or commuting to Arden Hills, MN.
