    FLSA JOB CLASSIFICATION:
    Exempt, 12 Month Position


    JOB PURPOSE:

    Greensboro Day School seeks an experienced athletic trainer with additional experience in athletics support and/or administration for a full-time Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Trainer position for the school year.

    The Assistant Athletic Director provides administrative support for the planning, implementation, supervision, and assessment of the athletic program at the School.

    The Assistant Athletic Director provides assistance in all operations associated with the Athletic Department and works collaboratively with the Director of Athletics and other areas of the athletic department including assistant athletic directors, athletic trainers, and the Director of Basketball Operations.

    The Athletic Trainer administers all areas expected as an athletic trainer including but not limited to injury care and prevention; first aid; injury rehabilitation; and planning and record keeping for student athletes.

    In addition, this position assists with data tracking of athletes, including approving required athletic participation forms in Magnus Health, and assists the Director of Athletics with day to day operations, coverage of practices, game management responsibilities at assigned games, and administrative duties.

    The Athletic Trainer provides assistance in overseeing the health and safety of student athletes, fans, and others associated with the Athletic Program.

    The Athletic Trainer works collaboratively with the Team Physician, Health Center staff, and other healthcare professionals to provide medical care for the athletic program and our school community.

    This is a 12-month, on-campus position, five days per week, Monday through Friday, and requires regular evening and weekend work.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Assistant Athletic Director
    Assists the Director of Athletics with practice and event administrative coverage

    Serves as liaison for visiting teams

    Assists with GDS athletic team send-offs for away contests

    Assists with game day setup and special athletic events (i.e. signing days, athletic awards assemblies)

    Assists with field painting, field maintenance, and athletic equipment maintenance

    Assists with equipment room and uniform inventory

    Assists the Director of Athletics with the support of coaches, particularly in the area of providing resources and training for school systems

    Works collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration as part of the athletic department

    Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

    Athletic Trainer
    Provides sports medicine coverage for all student-athletes during practices and athletic competitions including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment and medical referrals as necessary

    Reviews and approves required student-athlete participation forms in Magnus Health

    Maintains daily treatment records and injury/illness documentation

    Assists with concussion baseline testing (ImPACT) for student-athletes

    Assists in maintaining athletic training facility and equipment

    Assists with game day setup

    Maintains professional credentials for NATA BOC certification and North Carolina State Licensure

    Works within the scope of practice and the NATA Code of Ethics for Athletic Trainers

    Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics


    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Assists with providing medical coverage for GDS summer programs during summer program hours when on campus

    Assists with overnight trips as needed

    Teaches up to one physical education course as needed

    Performs other duties as assigned by the Head of School

    Position Requirements
    Bachelors degree in athletic training or Entry Level Masters in athletic training

    A minimum of five years of experience as an athletic trainer

    NATA BOC Certification

    North Carolina license eligible - NCBATE

    National Provider Identification (NPI) number required

    Experience in maintaining electronic medical records

    Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification

    Knowledge and understanding of NCISAA policies and rules

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    This position requires regular evening and weekend work, working outdoors, working with challenging clients, crisis and emergency situations, and collaboration with first responders or healthcare professionals (physicians, EMTs, fire, police, rangers, etc.).


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The position can involve lifting up to a maximum of 100 pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

    Medium strength is required to position patients for examination. The position may assist patients as needed, helping them on and off the field or exam table.

    The position must be able to stand for long periods of time and run to respond to incidents on a moments notice.

    The position must be able to work in outdoor conditions frequently subject to varying weather conditions and inside gym or classroom settings.

    The position is likely to come in contact with blood and body fluids. The position also requires desk work and sitting for periods of time.
