    Position Summary

    Plan, coordinate and implement all in-house training activities for department personnel; conduct research into specialized training classes and evaluate current training programs and perform a variety of professional and technical tasks in support of assigned area of responsibility.

    Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements

    Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in organizational training or adult education; and

    Three (3) years of organizational training or educational experience; and

    To include one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

    Possession of a valid City of Albuquerque Operator Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.

    When assigned to the Albuquerque Community Safety Department:

    Successful completion of a security background check conducted by the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI)

    Preferred Knowledge
    • Basic operations, services and activities of training program
    • Principles and practices of program development and implementation
    • Modern learning techniques and theory
    • Recent developments, current literature and information related to training
    • Principles and practices of management/labor relations
    • Modern office equipment including computers
    • Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and safety regulations
    Preferred Skills & Abilities
    • Coordinate and direct training programs
    • Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing training services
    • Prepare accurate schedules, outlines, materials and reports
    • Interpret and explain City policies and procedures
    • Train employees on safety related subjects
    • Train employees to obtain a Class A Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
    • Communicate clearly and concisely
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including the general public intellectual capabilities
