    Primary Function of Position

    • Procure materials and equipment for projects. Get quotes, match supplier capabilities to designs. Track orders, deliveries, inventory. Ensure enough supplies for production. Collaborate with Supply Chain team.
    • Uses schedules to establish materials needed, keeps inventory stocked as planned. Assesses reliability of suppliers, develops new sources if necessary. Monitors cost, schedule, and scope of NPI projects. Utilizes tools for continuous improvement in NPI function.

    Essential Job Duties

    • Use forecasting and planning to maintain ideal inventory levels of purchased material for engineering and production needs.
    • Utilize purchasing experience to reduce material manage times and ensure on-time delivery to support project schedules.
    • Work with engineering to assist suppliers in developing efficient fabrication processes.
    • Identify alternate sources of supply for critical components as required.
    • Participate in the continuous improvement of current systems and processes.
    • Work with cross-functional Supply Chain team to identify and qualify new suppliers.
    • Identify potential supplier capacity issues to Supply Chain Management and support/execute capacity risk mitigation activities.
    • Work with cross-functional Supply Chain team members to resolve these issues and to ensure no impact on project schedules.
    • Create, assist, update, and publish project material cost-models at each phase of the NPI project.
    • Establish best practices (as digital as few), process creation.
    • Quickly and proactively resolve and/or escalate issues related to delivery, supplier performance, quality or cost.
    • Ensure and maintain accuracy of all applicable reports, PO's, component item master information, etc.
    • Work with engineering and production control to ensure BOMs are accurate and will function in a production environment.
    • Understanding of the Product Development Phase-gates and corresponding supply-readiness deliverables: cost, supply continuity, supply chain risk management, new supplier assessment/evaluation.
    • Coordinates engineering change order activity with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to navigate gray areas.
    • Be a functional, productive member of a high-performance team.
