    Job Description
    The City of Port Wentworth Public Works Department is currently seeking qualified applicants for the
    position of PUBLIC SERVICE WORKER I. The primary function of the Public Service Worker I is to
    operate, maintain, and repair both the City's water system and the City's sanitary system: and to insure
    and adequate and safe public water supply, while preventing health hazards and degradation of water
    quality from sanitary sewer system. Some job duties include reading meters, repairing leaks, water
    sampling, installing, and repairing hydrants, performing maintenance on lift stations, and installing new
    water and sewer lines. Some water, sewer repair, and mowing equipment experience is a must. Also, this
    position requires 24-hour availability for emergency callouts.

    This is a full-time position ranging from $20.00-$24.00 per hour determined on qualifications. Qualified
    applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent, entry level to (1)
    year of Water and/or Wastewater Operators and/or Collection License, A completed application with
    resume, salary history, and references is required.
