    Description
    The Director, Alumni Relations is a full-time, 12-month position responsible to the Vice President,

    Institutional Advancement.

    The Director, Alumni Relations is responsible for planning, developing and overseeing a comprehensive Alumni Relations (AR) program that engages TJC's alumni population in the continuing life of the College.

    This position also provides administrative leadership for the TJC Alumni Association (Association), which serves more than 2,000 dues paying members.


    Directing and implementing a comprehensive AR program including the development and implementation of an ongoing communication and engagement plan that maximizes alumni connection to and support of TJC.

    Serving as administrative leader of the Association and liaison to its board of directors, which includes serving as treasurer, assisting the board with policies, elections, meetings and administratively supporting dedicated volunteer groups connected through the Association to affinity programs at TJC.

    Planning and directing all alumni activities and events, on and off campus, including yearly homecoming activities, reunions and large-scale special events.

    Coordinating all AR collateral materials and communication including alumni newsletters, publications, e-mail blasts and social media to ensure quality, ongoing engagement.

    Serving as liaison for alumni-based initiatives and groups including the TJC Travelers, which provides ongoing opportunities for alumni to connect through travel opportunities.

    Developing strategic AR initiatives both on and off campus including opportunities outside of the East Texas region.

    Supervising Coordinator, Alumni Relations in providing administrative support including assuring accurate data entry into Institutional Advancement (IA) CRM, processing Association memberships, supporting AR budget processing, delivery of membership packets and benefits, implementation of engagement opportunities such as social media and support of all AR activities and events.

    Developing an alumni referral process for former students that benefits different areas of the College .
    Serving as liaison between internal and external resources to maximize AR efforts.

    Working collaboratively within the Office of Institutional Advancement (IA) in the planning and alumni gift solicitations and the cultivation of alumni leadership to assist with development efforts.

    Representing TJC and AR through participation in community organizations and professional groups.
    Performing other duties as assigned by Vice President.
    Competencies

    Outstanding organizational and communication skills with the ability to serve as a strong advocate and articulate spokesperson for TJC and the Association.

    Exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated success in working with diverse constituencies.
    Ability to work with cross-functional teams in planning and executing programs and special events.
    Must be able to work independently with little supervision, respect confidentiality and maintain courtesy with all constituents.
    Working knowledge of computer programs and an understanding of and comfort with current technology.
    Required
    Bachelor's degree required.

    Three to five years of AR experience with emphasis on building, leading and sustaininga higher education AR program or comparable experience.

    Proven track record in meeting goals.
    Flexible schedule with night and weekend hours and occasional travel.
    Experience in supervising personnel.
    Preferred
    Leadership experience in a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred.
    Previous experience in working with Blackbaud RE NXT or an advancement CRM desirable.
    Experience in planning special events preferred.
    Work experience in a higher education setting preferred.

    Will have contact – in person, by email, or by phone – with volunteers, personnel, students and the general public.
