Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization, with primary responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and maintaining accurate records in QuickBooks. This role ensures timely reconciliations, supports monthly close, and helps maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
This position is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who values accuracy, consistency, and strong internal controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable, including invoice coding and preparation of payment batches
- Process accounts receivable, issue invoices, and record incoming payments
- Maintain and monitor AP and AR aging reports
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Maintain the general ledger and supporting schedules
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
- Enter and reconcile credit card statements
- Compile monthly profit and lost reports for review
- Support monthly close activities and provide supporting schedules
- Assist with budget preparation by compiling historical financial data
- Maintain vendor records and collect W-9 documentation
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Experience with general ledger accounting and reconciliations
- Proficiency in QuickBooks preferred
- Strong Excel skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage recurring monthly processes independently
Internal Structure:
This role is responsible for transactional processing and preparation of reconciliations. The Director of Finance provides oversight, review, approval of journal entries, and financial reports.
